EJIG's Luxury Wildlife Safari: Tanzania-9 Days

Arusha Tarangire Ngorongoro Serengeti Arusha

DAY 1: Arrival – Arusha

Arrive Kilimanjaro. You will be met, assisted and escorted to Arusha Coffee Lodge by an executive from Exotic Journeys International Group.

Set on the outskirts of Arusha on Tanzania's largest coffee plantation, Arusha Coffee Lodge is the ideal stopover on a Tanzanian safari. Retaining its luxurious colonial atmosphere, the lodge has wonderful views of the towering Mount Meru and is well-placed to access Tanzania's famous safari destinations.

Balance of the day at leisure.

Overnight: Arusha Coffee Lodge

Meals: None

DAY 2: Arusha - Tarangire National Park

After breakfast , depart to Oliver’s Camp located within a hidden pocket of Tarangire National Park.

Tarangire is noted for its elephant population and spectacular baobabs of every shape creating a beautiful setting.
Arrive at your lodge by lunch time.

Afternoon game viewing drive. Later as the sun sets, you will be transferred back to your camp for overnight.

Oliver's Camp has one of the most wonderful settings one could imagine and offers an unparalleled bush experience. From the camp a much wider eco-system can be accessed: the Ngorongoro highlands, the Great Rift Valley, the Lake Manyara region and of course the Tarangire National Park itself. There is no better location from which to understand the breathtaking beauty and at the same time the complexity and ultimate fragility of this unique eco-system.

The staff have years of experience, and a stay in this camp is like joining a warm family, who will share with you a deeper knowledge of this stunning national park and its inhabitants. Walking safaris are the specialty here, and the guides make the experience unforgettable.

Overnight: Oliver’s Camp

Meals: B, L, D

DAY 3: Tarangire National Park

On the second day, you will have a full day game viewing drive in the park with all meals.

A lot of migratory animals aim to reside here during the dry season. You can see groups and herds of animals like 600 elephants followed by zebras, buffalos and oryxes who ventured from the Maasai to the Tarangire in search for water. There are also a few lions prowling around and looking for unsuspecting preys around the jungle. Some of the other animals that you may see here are antelopes, warthogs, hippos, cheetahs, leopards, foxes, jackals and waterbucks.

Overnight: Oliver’s Camp

Meals: B, L, D

DAY 4: Lake Manyara National Park - Ngorongoro Highlands

After breakfast, depart for the beautiful Lake Manyara, a shallow alkaline lake that shimmers in a cleft in the Great Rift Valley.

Arrive and embark on a game viewing drive.

Tucked below the majesty of the Rift Valley wall, Lake Manyara National Park consists of a thin green band of forest, flanked by the sheer 600 meters high red and brown cliffs of the escarpment on one side and by the white-hot shores of an ancient soda lake on the other. Acacia woodland shelters the park’s famous tree climbing lions, lying languidly among the branches in the heat of the day. Lake Manyara safaris offers many opportunities to view elephants, giraffes, buffalos and wildebeests. The rivers and riverbeds provide scenic vistas for possible animal spotting. Warthog seem to thrive here, growing notably fat and tuskered, and it is a natural playground for baboons and monkeys. Later as the sun sets, you will be transferred to observation spot which stands on the edge of the encampment overlooking the lake.

Continue to the Manor at Ngorongoro for overnight. Located in the green and rolling hills south of the Ngorongoro Crater within a 1500-acre Arabica coffee estate, The Manor Ngorongoro with its 20 luxurious cottages and magnificent Main House is reminiscent of an elegant up-country farm home in the Cape Dutch-style of architecture. Each of the cottages has been carefully positioned to maximise the views of the adjacent verdant hills but at the same time to maintain the intimacy and privacy of this old-world manor home. The Manor boasts beautiful gardens overlooking the surrounding coffee-laden hills.

Overnight: The Manor at Ngorongoro

Meals: B, L, D

DAY 5: Inside the land that time forgot-Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, descend into the ‘8th Wonder of the World’, a unique biosphere that has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. Enclosed within its towering walls are grasslands, swamps, forests, saltpans, a fresh water lake and a glorious variety of birdlife. Here too are all the members of the ‘Big Five’ (lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo) as well as a large cast of plains game and one of Africa’s densest populations of predators.

You will be served a picnic lunch on the crater floor before driving back to your lodge.

Overnight: The Manor at Ngorongoro

Meals: B, L, D

DAY 6, Serengeti National Park
(Northern Serengeti)

You will be transferred this morning to the Manyara airstrip for your flight to the Northern Serengeti.

This area is home to the largest remaining concentrations of elephants and buffalo in the Serengeti. All four large carnivores (lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena) are also resident in the Northern Serengeti.

Set close to the banks of the Mara River, and boasting dramatic views out across the wide plains of the northern Serengeti, Sayari Camp offers an exclusive window and unparalleled access to the greatest migration on the planet.

And it does it all in remarkable luxury, with 15 tasteful hillside suites to retire to after a day of safari adventure. Intimate, stylish and elegant, it’s no surprise that this luxury Serengeti lodge is regularly voted one of the top safari escapes on the planet.
