The Taj is best seen under moonlight. The Taj Mahal may be viewed in the evenings five nights a month - when the moon is full and on the two nights before and after full moons. Closed on Fridays.
It is said the Taj Mahal changes its colors during the full moon nights. Visit the Taj during full moon nights for the most memorable and everlasting impression. Taj is also very enchanting at dawn and sunset.
Although with limited access, the Taj Mahal is now open for five nights each month for nighttime viewing around the full moon nights. The total number of visitors is restricted to 400 each night. Only 40 will be allowed at a time for 30 minutes each.
Mogul Emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The World Heritage site monument and one of the Seven Wonders of the World was built between 1632 and 1654. More than 20,000 artisans and highly skilled workers from around the world took 22 years to complete it.
The tickets to Taj costs about $24.00 and must be purchased 24 hours in advance. For a small service fee, overseas local tour operators can assist in purchasing tickets.
