Cultural tours of Kathmandu, a wildlife safari in the world famous Chitwan National Park, river rafting in the Himalayan rivers, trekking around the Annapurna range, camping under the stars where you might witness the moon rise behind Mt. Everest. When you want to get away from it all, visit Nepal and be close to nature. It is a perfect vacation to rejuvenate and uplift your spirits.
On our treks, porters or pack animals will carry all trek equipment, tents, sleeping bags, thick mattresses, first-aid kit, utensils, and food supplies. Our cooks understand western tastes and they observe strict hygienic standards. Experienced Sherpa-guides make every effort to ensure that your trip is safe, enjoyable, and rewarding. DAY 1 - Departure
Depart from New York / Newark / Chicago or Washington, DC aboard your Air India flight for Delhi.
If you prefer to travel from any other city or any other airline, we will provide arrangements according to your requirements.
DAY 2 - Delhi
After brief stop en-route you will arrive in Delhi late in the evening. You will be met and transferred to hotel.
DAY 3 - Kathmandu
After a leisurely morning in Delhi, you will fly to Kathmandu, the capital and largest city in Nepal, which is at an altitude of about 4500 feet in a fertile valley in the Himalayas. Many places of interest include the Hanuman Dhoka the historic seat of royalty with its old temples and palaces epitomize the cultural and religious life of the people, Temple of Living Goddess, the Royal Palace, and Pashupathinath - the pagoda style temple with a gilded roof and silver doors.
DAY 4 - Kathmandu
Tour the city, the Royal Palace, and Machendranath. In the afternoon is an excursion to Patan, Bhadgaon, and Pashupathinath. Patan - the city of arts and artists, is called such because craftsmen and metal workers built the ancient city with fine bronze gateways and wonderfully carved Buddhist and Hindu Monuments. Bhadgaon - the city of devotees, is famous for its Golden Gate, Palace of 55 windows and Pashupathinath Temple, which has many erotic carvings.
DAY 5 - River Rafting
This morning you will drive to the drop off point outside Kathmandu. You will meet your river guide and begin rafting down on the Trishuli River. You will spend the day within the canyon watching exotic birds and photographing. You will also visit local villages. Later we will arrive at a campsite for dinner and overnight.
DAY 6 - River Rafting
Raft to Devghat, a community with meditation schools and gardens. Camp on one of the islands below Narayanghat.
DAY 7 - Chitwan National Park
Raft down to Chitwan. Native wildlife to the region includes the one-horned rhinoceros, spotted deer, hog and samber deer, leopards and the ever-elusive Royal Bengal tigers.
DAY 8 - Chitwan National Park
Enjoy a jungle safari on elephant back and a nature walk.
DAY 9 - Trekking
Drive to Pokhra. Trek for three hours up the hill through Chetti and Brahman villages until a skyline camp is reached.
DAY 10 - Trekking
Begin a pleasant walk and follow the ridge eastward into the scattered villages and farming countryside up the Gurung village at Syaglung.
DAY 11 - Trekking
Trek downhill until we reach Chisopani ridge for lunch. A two-hour walk will take you to a beautiful campsite.
DAY 12 - Pokhra
Trek down to Bengas Lake. After lunch trek for two hours to a road-head and drive to Pokhra.
DAY 13 - Kathmandu
Fly to Kathmandu.
DAY 14 - Delhi
Afternoon flight to Delhi. Meeting and transfer to hotel.
DAY 15 - Homebound
Depart for USA in the morning by Air India and arrive same day. |
